Another example my ex-boss in US had. There was a homeless person in his area and he used to see him almost every day. One day he decided to do something, talked to him and asked him to sign-up with his church rehab group, get him a job etc....My ex-boss was serious but the homeless promptly rejected all the offers and instead he just wanted to remain as homeless only. He didn't even want to try....

if your PD remains current for at least three months in a row and everything else is clear, there is good chance you are out of the pipeline.
My PD is current for almost a year and Name check is cleared in July 2008.

Zen, the point is very simple. If you believe in this organization and what it does then you will donate knowing that IV needs the money to lobby for you, me and everyone else who is part of the community.
Lobbying is a very sensitive issue and it is not always possible for the persons involved to give you daily updates. Rather disclosing too much before time can have the opposite effect with people interested in lobbying against our interest mobilizing more aggressively.
Also bills are introduced all the time and there is not always enough time to hold funding drives to lobby for and against those bills. Moreover lobbying with the congress and senate is an on going effort and will require resources anyways.
However if you feel you want to be in the thick of things and know everything that is going on, then I guess joining your state chapter and being an active member can help you get some additional info. I believe volunteering your time is a lot more useful for the community than only money and if you can do that, all the power to you. I for one try and make my contributions to help those guys who are taking the pains to do all the work which benefits all of us.

I think all the work that Franklin did in preparation for the Rally and then at the Rally itself makes it obvious that she is better than most of the IV members (me included) who could not make it to the Rally.

The turnout could easily have been higher (like someone said, see the lines to the doctors office for getting medicals done when the dates were current, and compare that with how many showed up at the rally).

I went through the Federal Firearm Law and here is what I found:
(d) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person�
(5) who, being an alien�
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or
(B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));

(y) Provisions Relating to Aliens Admitted Under Nonimmigrant Visas.�
(1) Definitions.� In this subsection�

As per my understanding, if you are legally in the US, you can own a small firearm...walk into a store and tell them u need a gun and they will tell u what paper work you need or go to your local police station and ask the requirements. I'm also going to do a FOIA request for my I-140 that got approved in Jan 08. Employer is saying its their petition and they wont share it. I'm not going into argument because they revoke it now - The Legal Immigration system is too weak and too much lopsided to a "employer" rather than on the "individual employee"
I know during a PD porting to another AC21 employer this approval notice is sufficient even if the I-140 is revoked but my doubt is if my I-140 gets revoked can i switch to another employer and extend my H1B by 3 more years ??

I am not sure, if this topic has any merit. But, basically what we can learn is that, it is difficult to legally fight corporates, though I do not intend to discourage people, if there is any issue based on race or gender, going to HR may seem to be the right way, but 95% of cases, that will not work in favour of u, rather will work against you, especially being on H1b.
The reason I opened this topic for discussion is to see if it helps folks understand how certain things can affect ur path to GC. This is one aspect that you have to atch out in your journey towards GC.

When does the "Approval notice sent" status appear, it is about 7 days since I got the production ordered.

My EAD is pending for 8 months due to security clearance. I requested interim EAD but no luck. Have made several info pass appointments, the IO called Texas Service Center and spoke to the officer who has my application. the Texas service center replied to local IO that they will soon get to it. As of January 11, 2008 my application is sitting on the desk of the IO in Texas waiting to be adjudicated. However, with pending security clearance I am not sure when that would happen....Biometrics were done in July 2007.
Any advise is greatly appreciated

I know many of us are frustrated because of EAD delay. I am one of them and today I called up USCIS.
Here is the sequence.
1) 1 800 375 5283
2) 1,2,2,6,1 receipt notice# 1,3,4
3) you will have to wait for 10 to 15 minutes and one of the officer will come online for you.
4) at least they will give you information about your case ( mine is sent to some storage and they had to issue an expedite request to get it processed again. I am july 2 filer with notice dat of sept 8,2007 3 infopass apointments, 1 SR). the officer has access to look at the file and can give you appropriate information( they are not like regular service agents who will read what you see on USCIS.gov).
5) as of now they told me that I will information from USCIS in 2 weeks.

I did online MS degree and it took 3 years, although I could have completed it in 2.5 years. First year I completed only 1 course per sem, then I started doing 2 per sem. I took non-thesis option and the total cost was aprx 15K from ISU. Thye charge flat rate fee per subject ( aprx 3 credits) irrespective of residency requirements (you can actually do this course from anywhere in the world and it would cost the same) . This degree requires 30 total credits (one of them must be a project, so technically only 9 subjects/courses to take).

Nobody here even comes close in identifying which are the eligibility criteria. Everybody hopes for one or the other.
Meanwhile one thing is for sure:
Every application filed after July 2nd, is filed AFTER they closed the doors oficially! How are we in the same class as the people from July 2nd ??? Just because we prepared for filing ??? Isn't that a bit weak in the eyes of the law ?
Just talked to my lawyer..he said even if we win the case...eligibility is based on the court order...court order may allow every one or only limited people who are in the class action...and in murthy.com they clearly mentioned that, USCIS MAY look at the apllications very closely who are in the class action....who wants that..
Send flowers on JULY 10TH....the count is reaching 100.
