The problem here is that a large number of people whose pd is current have signed up for infopass to get their case status - knowing very well that this is nothing but a waiting game. This forum is full of infopass experiences where people have not got any information that they already don't know.
And now it is people like you, who really need an appointment, suffer.
Anyway, maybe you can just show up at the office and plead your case.
I have been trying to book an infopass at Hartford office for the past one month. I been trying to every 2 hours for at least 8 times constantly every day.
Every time I get a message saying "No information appointment is available at this time. Please try again later" message.
Any body have this problem. I have been trying to get infopass since my EAD is going to expire and I am experiencing delay in EAD renewal process.
And now it is people like you, who really need an appointment, suffer.

I talked to my lawyer and he says you need to withdraw the old 485 and apply for new 485 using marriage.....
I can't imagine lawyer suggesting that. You should consider getting second professional opinion.
One I-485 can be linked to more than one immigrant petitions. You will need a cover letter after I-130 approval and reference to existing I-485 application along with amendments to refer approved I-130 immigrant petition.

There are huge set of techniques by which searching in Google can be done more accurately, and here is a list of them that I frequently use.

Whenever we search for more than one keyword (i.e. computer programming, here we use 2 key word. a) computer b) programming) at a time Google will handle this keyword using a method called Boolean Default. Google's Boolean default is AND; that means if we enter query words without modifiers, Google will search for all of them. If we search for:
computer programming
Google will search for all the words. If we want to specify that either word is acceptable, we can put an OR between each item:
computer OR programming
If we want to exclude a query item from search results, use a -.(minus sign or dash:
computer -programming
Note that there is no space after the (-) sign.

"Some Interesting Google Search Technique"
3. Period (.) and Asterisk (*) can also be used as traditionally used.

Currently, the Senate debate schedule remains the last two weeks of May and these groups started acting up to pave a way for building a lofty wall against or smoothens the road for passage of this legislation. The Catholic community is very charged in support of the bill and actively lobbying both openly and behind the scenes to work with the legislators. People sometimes question why the Catholic community acts as one of the front lobbying forces for the CIR. You guessed it. Hispanics are Catholics and the CIR will tremendously expand the horizen of their constituents and its power base in the national political arena. Twelve or thirteen millions are not a small number. The same question is also raised relating to the AFL-CIO, labor unions. Again, you guessed it. The low-end industries and illegal aliens that will benefit from legalization are charaterized as workforces that belong to the organized unions. This is contrasted to the high-end industries and professional workers that are not by nature tightly organized into the unions. For the reasons, the unions tend to support the CIR, unlike the high-tech worker bills, to take advantage of expanding its membership and power base through the to-be-newly-recruited members of the unions. Aha...... Hi,
I will be traveling to India tomorrow and My AP expires 30-Aug-2010. My trip is only for 10 days and I will be back by Aug12.
So I was wondering if there will be any issues at POE or in India, since my AP expires in less than 30 days?
This is my second trip on AP.
Also, what all I need to carry? I have EAD, Employment letter, 485-receipt, 2 Pay stubs, W2 ?
Adding to this, my PD will be current from Aug-1st :(

Sorry to hear about your parents. Hope they are doing ok. It should not be a problem and you can even enter the country on Aug 30, 2010, the day your AP expires. The only question they would ask is 'Are you still working with ABC' (GC sponsership company) and may be some additional questions about your location and the purpose of your trip.
Since this is your second trip you should know by now what documents you need to carry with you. I travelled twice in this year and carried only my I-485 receipt and AP, thats it. When you enter the country with AOS status they don't really care much about other documents but if you want to carry all the above mentioned documents, it does not hurt.
If your 485 is approved while you are outside of the country, you will not face any problem since you have a valid AP. Good luck!

Need some information on studies while on EAD. I am a EB3 (Aug 2004) and so my daughter too. She is in final year of her graduation and applying for Med schools after a competitive score in MCATs. Got a rejection from Arkansas college as she is not a GC holder yet. So I was wondering if anyone studying medicine on EAD?
Most of the colleges wont say about eligibility while applying and the application does not have a immigration category for AOS, it has Dependent, F1, GC and others. We had to go with Others option, ofcourse specified about AOS in rermarks.

In this case your employer has to demonstrate ability to pay for year 2005 (even if you were not employed that time). If they have shown loss in 2005 tax return, chances are that your petition will be declined and only option is MTR and/or AAO.

Be adviced, even though they are ready to file your GC in EB2, they frequently lay off people in which case they might not be able to file your GC on the commited day. Big companies go by book. Generally when company lays off, it can not file new labor within 180 days of the effectice lay off. Of course it depends on what kind of people they are laying off and if the title matches your position and what not. But this happened to me. I work for another big company (not oracle) and mine was delayed six months due to this reason. I do not want to scare you but just want to educate you. Think about all these scenarios before making any decision. Good Luck.

i efiled my 765 and on aug 3rd i got my rfe , i took print out of efiled copy signed it and wrote a cover letter and attached ead copy,ssn copy and passport copy
and sent it.
they received my response but havent updated my case yet...waiting for it..
please let me know anyone else has similar issues and what was the result..

Compared to US, Software Engg position in India sucks a lot. It makes sense only if you are a manager in India. I know batchmates went to work in Texas Instruments in Bangalore and after a year or 2 later, got frustrated with the insfrastructure etc there.
