not a single person has explicity voted "No". In reality though, everyone who has viewed this thread (1563 views when I last checked - even if you assume each person has checked this thread at least 10 times, that's about 156 individuals out of whom only about 35 have voted so far!) and not bothered to vote is essentially voting "No"! And again, you havent defined "more". Currently, I believe the contribution limit is 25 dollars per month. When you say more - what number are you thinking of. And now look at the folks who said YES. What numbers are they looking at. If you had put in a number and said "are you willing to pay x dollars per month .." - then you can be assured of that the members who say YES are on the same page as you. Right now, what you have is a number of folks but they may not be on same page.
And what is the definition of "updates" ? We are not working here on a fixed time project where the deliverable is due at the end of period 'x'. For quite a lot of period, the updates will be generic and on the lines of "we are working on getting to our goals and we are making progress". You will not get any more details than this. Turn around and check with the folks who said YES -- is this what they are expecting. Or they are expecting something different.
25 dollars per month equates to 0.6 % of annual salary for someone making 50k and only 0.3% of someone making 100k. Is this a big amount - Yes and No. It clearly depends on the individual. For lobbying you agree that the amount required is way more than what we currently are able to raise.
IV has probably 25k+ registered users. This is a good number to look at. Practically, how many of them have logged in and used this system for the last six months and three months and last month. I dont know the exact number but have a strong feeling that this number will probably in the 10-15 percentile only. And guests is not equal to an unregistered IV member. Not every person posts on this site. There are a lot of people who just browse the forums and dont post - they dont need to login everytime they come on to this site - therefore you will see a good chunk of visitors but they necessarily are not unregistered members.
Your intentions are good - but the approach you took needs to be refined further. None of what I wrote above is personally against you - I appreciate your efforts but feel that we need to approach it differently - probably equating updates with money is not a good approach given that once someone gives money , they may start having a feeling of entitlement and we may not be ready to handle it.

Two years before you would have got a different reply because selling a house was easier than now. My priority date is Jan 06, EB3-I, but we bought a house because of our personal choice. We wanted to give our daughter a nice environment to grow with friends. Why should she suffer because of the delays in GC?
Not buying a house doesn't hold you up to a location, especially if you are in consulting but again if you want to settle down and travel less, with EAD, it is still OK to buy a house. As long as you have some saving to take you through just in case you have to go out of the country and come again, you should be OK. If you don't want to risk it and space is not a concern, renting is not bad at all. House in the US according to me is not an investment purely on dollar value but the quality of life is way better than renting. If you will lose sleep just because you made a major investment, then hold on for few more years.

They hushed up and approved my EAD in 20 days. Why ???? 'cos So they don't hit Jun'30 and give 2 years. They wanted to milk another 680 from me so they hushed up and sent me the 1 year EAD in 20 days.

How about getting somebody who already got his green card, and after getting the card created jobs or did some inventions.

Did anybody get I-140 receipt or approval notice? I just talked to Immigration officer on phone and he said its employer's property. I cannot use G-639 also.

My son was on H4 and joined undergraduate course in Canada last year. He is Canadian permanent resident too. As per July VB, I can file for I-485. My question is:
1. Can I and my wife file I-485 as AOS and file I-824 to change AOS to CP for my son, so that he may file I-485 as CP from US Consulate, Montreal, Canada?
2. If not, what are the options?

Yes, the same software was used that readily available in the interest of time. This website came up in the last week of December and we are improving it everyday as much as we can.
We have our own admin who is actually a volunteer of immigration voice. Most members here are members of immigration portal that joined hands after failure of regtrogression provisions in S 1932 on Dec 21.

My friend sent me through wire transfer. I think bank was HDFC.
He had't get RBI clearance or anything and he sent under maintenance category or something like not sure.
It was done in 2005 not sure rules are changed lately.

although this doesn't fit 100% to your case. You may want to look at the attached administrative appeals office decision.
Essentially, a person was denied in eb2 because they had a 3 yr bsc and 2 year masters. they had education evaluationstating that masters indian degree was equal to us masters degree.
nebraska service center stated that 3+2 is not equal to masters degree. Admininstrative appeals office decision approved it saying that it didn't matter how long the combined study was. As long as foreign masters equals us masters then that is all which needs to be proven.
My experience has been that texas service center sends an rfe for this 3+2 education. I know of 8 cases where thie decision was shown in the rfe and they all 8 got approved. I know of one case in nebraska where this case was shown and they still denied it stating that it wasn't a precedent decision (person already had another 140 denied and there was some history in his case which i believe caused nebraska to deny it). Odd part was that the appeals office decision was from nebraska service center

Well said.. we, who have not yet made up our minds, have no excuse NOT to support IV.
Right now, there are several things we all can do:
1) write to congressman/woman
2) meet congressman/woman
3) Join Team IV fitness/fund raising group
4) Contribute in the current funding drive
5) Become active and then tell your friends to do the same.
Why are we discussing this subject when it will do nothing to take us closer to getting the GC? In almost each social event, I have heard this subject being talked by my fellow friends. But discussing it on IV forum does not serve much purpose.
To me, it seems in the conversations about this subject (not just this thread, even in social events), each person is trying to find a group of people that agree to his or her thoughts. That makes the group then feel better. But what do we all do the next day, pray that we get the GC fast. People who want to really go back to their country do not take much part in these discussions. They just pack up and go.
If we are spending any time on IV, it should be focussed on our effort to get the GC. Or to help someone of us facing an immigration related issue.

this is my 10th year in the US & never had a single incident along the racial lines.. probably I lucked out.. However, I don't subscribe to this opinion of removing moustache..... As if things weren't enough complex, today my friend told me one more thing about finger prints. His PD is 2004 Sep EB2, so he called USCIS to know the status of his application. Then they told him that his finger prints got expired (as per them they expire after every 15 months). So they will invoke the notice to get him an appointment for finger prints. They also mentioned if finger prints have expired then they can't process the application unless it gets renewed.
Although this is first hand information, I was very surprised and not sure whether or not to believe the information given by USCIS call center.
The information that my attorney gave me was on similar lines. From what she told me its a good sign that I got my biometric appointment for next month when my PD is current. You never know, its USCIS.

This is a sheer tactics with no substance at all. Realistically that situation won't arise in a single lifetime considering this current immigration environment :) To get the GC is ~10 years and then citizenship is another 5 years and then applying and getting family immigration is another ~10-15 years (if not more) by that time the applicant's (adult) parents won't survive anyway, if not the initial applicant himself!!

My spouse is in a situation where she has spent more than 6 years time on H4 furthering her education/skills and now she cannot apply for a H1. I had read sometime back on murthy.com that USCIS was considering decoupling of H1/H4 time. That should soften the blow of retrogression to some of us.
