I-485 is your application. Employer must provide receipt notices. Talk to your lawyer, he'll help you. You can call USCIS and get receipt notice.
To answer your question, I'm not that expert.

My lawyer told me he will not provide receipt notice without employer's permission and employer has refused to grant permission.."
Don't know if calling USCIS and asking for a receipt notice will help if I already have an attorney authorized to represent ME through G-28...

I e-filed on 04/14 at NSC and still no updates. TSC as can be seen from the post above is approving EAD cards in 2-3 weeks.

Why dont we call it a day on this issue. The OP was venting frustration, and feels entitled to do so. Nothing wrong with that, and there is no need to question his motives or logic. Considering what all of us are going through, there is a lot to be said in favor of letting out steam.
Lest anyone feel offended for anything I have said, I am not being patronizing. Indeed, after five years of wait, I feel like a good crib session will do me good too.
Chill out and enjoy the weather....after weeks of awfully low temp., the sun is out and the weather is glorious.:)

Also, there is no rule that says citizenship is not available to people who do not work for the sponsoring employer for a certai nperiod of time after GC approval. It is just good practice to stick around for a few months after approval, but it is not law.

My friends - if you have already applied for 485, you are reaping benefits of 2 year EAD which IV worked for. This inturn saving some money and giving you peace of mind. Please donate a piece of that money towards advocacy efforts and IV. This will help you get your GC faster and help many other. I did my part 100$ towards this advocacy. I asked my friends to do the same and attend if possible.

There is no such status as "out of project". Based on the fact that you do not have a job and your employer is not paying you, you are out of status already. It is your employer's responsibility to pay you no matter you have a project or not. In fact, it is because of cases like yours that USCIS has raided those desi body shops and put them behind bars.
My advice to you is change your stauts ASAP to F-1 or if you are married, then to H4.
If the above two options are not something you can do, please leave the country.

i am on my 3rd year of waiting for name check to clear, i hope the congress woman does something about name checks too. That nightmare is worse than anything at USCIS, there is no one who has been able to help or expediate with name check, even the congressman i contacted said they can do nothing about it besides ask for a status.
There are over 339,000 people stuck in name check - this is done for naturalization and 485. I can bet you this will be the next battle because a lot people who have filed 485 will get stuck in this black hole, where this no accountability by FBI to individuals because the "client" is USCIS and last quarter there were 400 law suits (Writ of Madamus etc) to force USCIS and FBI to do their jobs. It would be best if setting time limits for name checks are included in IVs goals now itself. No point in jumping from the frying pan if one is going to eventually land in the fire. The name check snares a lot of Indians, Chinese, middle easterners, russians etc. Most people stuck in the name check have never been involved with the law - go figure the algorithm FBI uses to trawl the ocean bed!

For the August visa bulletin, USCIS gave all the extra quota to EB2. I don't think this is fair for all the EB3 people. I thougt the reason they gave all the quota to them was the EB2 included NIW. But NIW is just a small portion of EB2. Majority EB2 peopole are like EB3 working for companies and not necessarily important to give all the extra quota to them. If the policy continues, our EB3 will just become fake immigration. You don't know how long we can finalize our case. Gugs, please work together and let our voice to be heard by USCIS. Hope our organization can help us.

The Forums are not secure as they are watched by anti immigrant groups. Key communications like this can only be through state chapters as the membership to the state chapters are secure. If people who got their AP from NSC could just menion how long it took for them to receive ap document it would be statistical and we can there upon make some judgements !!
Noone is asking for exact dates from USCIS. We are all still very much in a limbo and this is just for getting some heads up!!

I'm glad I found this post. I own a D70 as of last September and I too was wondering if perhaps I was (a) going completely crazy or (b) just plain sucked and should give up. Don't get me wrong, I still classify myself as a newbie but I DO know what focus is, how to get it and what it should look like and I've thought on numerous occasions while veiwing a soft image "what the hell, I was dead on with this one".
I have to yet to upgrade my firmware, does this fix the problem (providing it isn't me) or do I still have to take the camera in for repair?
