Unless something catastrophic happens before the rally I am 100% in. I so much wanted to be there last year too but I was in India.
Let's show some strenght in number folks. Come on IVians.
Thanks for your decision to participate. I am 100% sure it won't be a Monday. Congressmen don't work on Mondays and Fridays.
I can't make any promises on the dates. It will depend on the date IV is able to get the permission to conduct the rally, and also other factors.
I request you to try and make time if you can. Even I have to take some days vacation to be there. We have to make these little sacrifices because the stakes are high.

dear friends,
i have been in the US 11 years and have considered and reconsidered this whole debate on a recurring basis. much time an thought has been put into it. one of the conclusions i have arrived at is that if you have lived here long enough and still maintain ties to home, you have lost the ability to be "happy AND satisfied AND peaceful" anywhere. we belong no where. not completely here and not completely there. wherever you live, there will be a perceptible sense of what you are missing. live here and miss family etc live there and miss a lifestyle you have grown to take for granted. accepting this fact of life is very useful i find, it puts matters in perspective for me. if nothing is going to be perfect then i am looking for the better deal not the ultimate one, and looking for it with the full full knowledge that i will not have everything. it won't happen.
the decision is a very individual one, but don't take it with rose colored glasses, don't think of home and recall only the best times. do remember why you left and why you still stay here. and if you still feel the pull to return, do so by all means, but do it with the knowledge of it's imperfections and flaws so you don't come running back.
i have friends who would never leave and those that have left. personally i live in a constant sense of being torn between my two worlds- and i don't advocate that to anyone!

They never recruit Gc holders or citizens because they have to give more pay. Past 2 years they started taking GC Holders and Citizens as demand is more than supply. If you see 1990s till 2000 there was not a big oppostion to H1Bs. Now you can see the difference in recruiting policy of some companies. Lot of companies are recruiting H1Bs for cost cutting as one of the reason.
I am quite sure that H1Bs are NOT bringing the wages down in the software sector. I am not in software but have friends who are. Many of the H1Bs they are getting from foreign nations tend to be adaptive, i.e., they can quickly adapt to changing demands of customers. In other words, they quickly learn new skills. If you can get better qualifications for the same pay, I don't believe that is cost-cutting. Also, people who came here in the past on H1Bs and are unwilling to adapt are also losing jobs. In management, nowadays, it is taught that if you can't adapt you perish. Those who are unwilling to adapt are losing jobs. That is a harsh reality of the industry, and a capitalistic economy understands it well. I hope the house reps and senators take all this into consideration in the LD and afterwards.

I sent the paper filing documents to NSC on Dec 21st. Check has got en-cashed. But it doesn't have any receipt number in the back. No idea whats going on :( is there any way to get the receipt number?

I'm a donor and this is exactly what I'm experiencing. I contacted the administrator about the problem and got a reply saying that there was a glitch and they could resolve it. However, I still cannot view the donor-only forums. I guess, I shall wait until tomorrow...

This has never happened before. Once you apply, if your date gets retrogressed subsequent to your application, then they dont start sending 485 petitions back. Look at December 2004 EB3 for precedence. They knew early on when they were accepting those EB3 petitions for India, Phillipines and China in December 2004 that they will be retrogressed in 2005 and the rest of 2005 but they still kept accepting them in December 2004 and then kept them intact even after dates retrogressed in 2005.
So if they do this, they will be overturning the precedent again.
The core group will try to verify this information but I dont think there is any reason they would reverse their decision announced on July 17th. It is very likely that the customer service reps are not up to date with latest memo on July 17th.

For all those people here who are wondering why IV members are floating out possibilities of good news? - We asked for hope and that is what they are giving us. If they keep quiet we pester them for updates. If they give us hope and those do not pan out then some of us try to find devious patterns. To trust and mistrust as expedient is extremely foolish. Either you got to put your support and trust in these guys when the going is tough or go some place else. It is easy to post bullshit and devious scheming scenarios. It is difficult to get current politicians to support our cause. Please be supportive and think hard before you post here. Let us sound united not dissenting and mistrusting.
PS- I am not a core team member nor am I involved in the hard work that those guys do.
