WASHINGTON ─ The Internal Revenue Service today announced a one-time extension of the deadline for special voluntary disclosures by taxpayers with unreported income from hidden offshore accounts. These taxpayers now have until Oct. 15, 2009.
Under special provisions issued in March, taxpayers with these hidden accounts originally had until Sept. 23, 2009 to come forward. Those taxpayers who do not voluntarily disclose their hidden accounts by the new deadline face much harsher civil penalties, where applicable, and possible criminal prosecution.

USCIS is fine. My lawyer is one of the prominent immigration lawyers in USA and his staff had advised this. Anyway, if you have doubts, then it is best to speak to USCIS. They would help you out.
Can some one confirm, which one is correct as there are posts calling for ceques written for both USCIS & DOJ
This is extremely important as whole application will be rejected if the cheque is wrongly addressed

I think the root cause of EB3 India is not that there are too many EB3 India applicants but majority of the ROW EB applicants apply in EB3 and not EB1/2 even if they qualify (this might change now as EB3 ROW is suffering huge backlog).
Yes godalguru theres a possibility that EB3 ROW starts jumping to EB2 ROW. But I dont think they start doing it right away.

I see there is a wonderful popularity of this thread. I also personally want an answer (ask my wife :)).
I am just here to request everyone that on parellal of this there is a very very important and critical issue going on regarding AC21. In current job market, anyone may loose job. USCIS is rejecting AC21 left and right for last few days.
Even if you used it, planning to use it or not planning to use it at all, please respect the fact that this is complete injustice to legal immigration community and we need to fight this together.

I think different aides may be responding to the callers explaining the different experiences.
I called all the numbers- every one was very nice and either said they would convey the message or the congressman/woman is already supporting it.
Congressman Guittirez's aide said he would support it as long as there are no enforcement provisions in it. Can he spoil it?!

Looks like we are the piggy bank for the politicians. Any time they want to fund something and they dont know where to look, tax the H1b holders. The regular and other add-on fees have been increasing for the past 10 years, and yet the quality of service has either remained the same or degraded.
I think it is time we let the news organizations know the game that is being played by the congress.
Also, reading most of the letters that were drafted to the congressmen, they sound very biased towards the benefit of the H1b holder. The congressmen are not affected by this law and hence will not support us if we use such language. What we need to do is speak their language, and state the loss the government will face. Use no mention of our problems, but speak in terms of only their problems that will arise. That way you get their full attention, and at the same time get your point across.

I am still confused as to whether STEM provisions require advanced degree (MS/Phd) with 3 years of experience before labor certification filing/approval or after? Any ideas...
According to the wording of the bills, 3 years of experience is considered at the time of filing for your immigrant visa application which is also the Adjustment of Status Application or I-485. Application for labor is not considered immigrant visa application.
This is purely my personal interpretation of the wording. Experts can jump in and agree or disagree with me.

Could someone let me know how much you paid at this clinic for Medical checkup and immunization shots.
For me they charged as below,
Medical & Blood test - 225$
MMR - 115$
Td - 115$
Vericella - 115$
They also asked us to take Hepatitis blood test which cost 80$
Hepatitis shot - 115$
Total = 765$ for one person
They do not accept medical insurance, for me and my wife I paid 1530$.
After completing all these shots they gave us the sealed envelop, and a copy of I-693 (Green color - Applicant's copy).
Under remarks it says:
The applicant hasn't met all the recommended vaccines; thus, I have encouraged to continue or follow-up with the additional doeses. He is fully aware and will proceed.
Further they put us on a schedule (Texas Health Department - Immunization Division) which involves taking,
2 more hepatitis shot
2 more Td
1 more MMR
1 more Varicella
Which is going to cost 690$ more. Which would be 765$ + 690$ = 1455$ / person.
They say that INS while calling for interview will ask for the immunization record, and all the above shots should be upto date by then.
I saw many people from Austin going to this clinic (Near Hongkong Market) and I would like to know if everyone paid the same.

I have travelled via Frankfort couple of times with AP. Infact, i was stopped by a German offical who asked me US visa. I showed him the AP and he was OK with it. This was a year ago. So i am confortable travelling with AP and no transit visa

I completely agree with you that only reasonable increases in the benefits we are seeking will have any chances of getting through. Since we (folks stuck in GC process) are fighting for reducing retrogression, I am not even sure why we would ask for increase in H1-B. How does increasing H1B help us get our GC faster? That is something that companies who need H1Bs should focus on. In fact, increasing H1B will most likely hurt us by increasing the number of people in the GC line and by drawing attention from anti-immigrant group. We are shooting ourselves in the foot if we are asking for more H1B.

People are very sensitive when it comes to legal immigration as well. Many are scared of H1B's you know. That's my major concern. If we had a lobbying group able to put modest provisions such as recapture of visa numbers and a temporary increase in visa numbers (and temporary increase in H1B's, to make employers happy) then yes, I could imagine we would have more chances. What do you guys think ?

As far as I am concerned my spouse and I are one when it comes to filing taxes as we are joint filers. In fact when it comes to properties we own everything in common. The fact that she does not work or does not have SSN but uses ITIN for tax filing purposes does not detract from the fact that she contributes to the family income (at least by moral support).
So, I don't understand all these arguments except of course you guys think it's your income and not the family income that is taxed!
