Another thing to try and do is (if not done already), is to look for search engine directory listings like http://www.dmoz.org (the biggest one) and add them to the different search engines.
The more we get smaller search engines to spider IV's site the better. I tried adding IV to dmoz under immigration last week. It was not sucessful so i tried it again today under different sections (Pro immigration and US immigration).
The other thing we can try and do is get as many partnership links as possible from bigger better websites (easier said than done, i know).

I noticed one thing. People in groups like IV have a thousand different types of problem and they scan the messages and skim past without even respondin if it does not directly pertain to them. I am surprised by the type of unity and support the ilegals have gained and I have no hesitation to say that they are infact the better people. Even their website is amazing. The unity is unimaginable and they all stand for each other. This is reality which we have to face. We all seem to be alone until some common issue arises. Unfortunately this does not seem to be it. Look at all the posts that are running into multiple pages!! and for this important issue that an agedout kid raised we have a few posters. Even the one on future Indian PM has demanded tremendous response. I am sure of one thing; unless a commonality arises for all these issues there will never be a true success for any of the EB demands. The reality seems harsh but unfortunately we have to somehow accept it.

Can one confirm for sure that I'm eligible for SS benefits..(Its been 9 yrs and one more here I can spend to reach that magic figure).
Ok, I'm not much into look at this on pros and cons way..
The strong points for me to get motivated to go back are:
1. Kids...I feel its better for kids grewup in india for the kind of importance we give for education. Its hard to see atleast in my experience the true spirit of competetiveness....the way we had....
2. Career..I worked in india as a lead and manager before coming here...and though no one offered me mgmt jobs here..I'm not ready to take ..due to the facts known to everyone...here we just can't be managers...(not a rule of thumb..)..Now I see better things happening back at home..salaries are amazing....(politics are there no matter where you are)..I'm confortable in saying my savings more or less matches even the kind of income I'm targetting...
3. Life...guys...I don't know how you guys term it in your experience...but I feel sick in cleaning bathrooms and kitchens and doing laundry and ironing...day after day every day....common...we deserve doing much better things..
4. Routine:...guys..Its just routine...nothing changes...monotony kills me...
I don't say things would be rosy there...but...I feel more satisfying in visiting places in india than driving bloody 500 miles around to take photographs..nothing gives you a feeling of belongingness..I am ready to take hardships for the sake of my parents...I want to visit them on demand..vise versa...and quality of life...common guys..we grew up there...don't we enjoy being there till we come here..??..

Hate to be the party pooper, but its better to see the reality than be lost in the illusion. The facts:
We a have bitterly and an acrimoniously divided Congress
The democrats are NOT together on this one i.e blue dogs, conservative Dems etc.
We have game changing mid terms coming in.
Democrats DONT have super majority in the Senate any more.
And MOST of all we have a president who has PUBLICLY said that this bill will not pass this year due to the lack of political clout.
This is just a ploy to rally up the hispanic votes by Reid, don't pin too much/any hopes on this, the writing on the wall is unfortunately very clear, not worth the heart break. :(

I called USCIS nebraska two weeks back and I got the same response as mentioned by "bigboy007". I called them twice once in the morning and the next time in the evening..I got the same reply saying that "They are holding all the applications that came after June 25th and they are waiting for further instructions. They will assign receipt no only when they have enough visa numbers.
It did not make any sense..
I posted my feedback in another thread and i didn't get any response..
Then, i asked my friend to call uscis and ask for his status. My friend did not get the same response as me. They just checked and said they may not have received his application. So I thought the IO i spoke to may be wrong or might had outdated information.
I guess you are right. I think the info they are giving is outdated info from prior to Jul 17. I think they were thinking (prior to Jul17) about holding on to all applications and accept only some based on how many visa numbers are available. Now that the Jul2 memo is canceled/withdrawn , this is just stale info from misinformed CSR.
I am not loosing sleep over it.

To play the Devil's advocate (again, please think of this as an argument, and not my view point) -
One way to argue this out is this
Which countries have the need for this currently?
-The ones who are supplying a huge talent pool - India and China. Some of the countries are not even filling up their alloted quota - so why give them more when they do not need it?
So why in the world would they limit a category which has been created for skillset based on ethnic diversity?
American Senator/Congressman - The need for the higher skilled Indians and chinese is being taken care of by the higher education clause, so why should I make it easier for people without those skills to come to US? The way I see it, I need the Indians and chinese to help me in the R&D labs, and in some high end technology/business. On the other hand, I love cheap labor to help me clean my garden and bathrooms - I think both of my needs are being met by this bill. Btw, I am making sure american business is happy by increasing H1B quota and making sure there is a steady flow of indentured laborers always coming to US.
Guys, please do not misunderstand me, I do not like this either, but I can see strong arguments for this too. It is just a f* mess and the politicians are again playing games with our lives.

So we have reached a conclusion that We need to push for HIGH FIVE Funding Drive and Recapture of Visa Number.
Admin please delete this thread so we could get to real work.
I would push for everyone who has already not contributed to the $ 5 campaign. Please do so. We need to push the recapture bill.
I am not against deleting this thread. But how is this thread coming in between real work? and how will its closing ensure that real work is done? Maybe I am too naive to understand it.
All I am trying is to get something out for someone to discuss. The hope is that some passive viewers will become active, share a thought. The passive to active viewers who are frustrated can get a channel to think about ideas. At the end, more number of people you have that start contributing, more will the $ 5 campaign succeed. If you have threads only asking for money, that may not pull a lot of people on board. Once people start talking about these things, they become more inclined to participate.

WE can also get the transit visa from India right?. My family is travelling next week and I am not in a US State which has a german consulate, which means I have to send it by post.
To go to India, we do not need a transit visa, so I am thinking of applying it in India for the travel back to US.
Also, when we get the transit visa do they give for the entire duration between begin and end dates (if visa applied from US), or they give two visas for specific begin and end dates.

Here's my story:
Filed for labor in Dec'03 from Wisconsin under EB3. Was approved and sent to Chicago in August 2004. Since then, not a word. Have not yet received the 45 day letter. Is this normal? I am starting to panic a little bit, though I know there is not much I can do in this case.
My attorney is not the pro-active kind. She is just twiddling her thumbs waiting for an answer from USCIS.
Should I call myself and follow up on my case. Can I say this is the attorney calling as opposed to saying this is the alien calling??
