I appreciate your response and also for taking time to criticize my post. But please put some though into what I have mentioned in my pre-condition.
1) Better weather means there is a chance of higher participation. Do you want this rally to be a very low attendance event incase the day you picked im March turned out to be freezing? People coming in from far of places may have flight delays, cancellation, etc,. Do you want members who attend this rally with young kids to suffer in the cold when you can do this same rally in better weather if you wait for 4-5weeks more? One thing you should understand, with the economy in this bad shape our voice will get drowned if we don't show up in really big numbers. Even if our voice is heard there is going to be nothing happening as fast as we expect it to be. Economy would be the primary concern in the minds of the president, congress and the american people. Being high skilled I guess we can make wise and statergic decisions too.
2) T-shirts with something printed on it looks cheap. Sorry, for being so blunt about it. We don't go to work in that kind of attire ( atleast the folks who work in the east coast). It is not necessary that you need to sell only IV T-shirts to raise money for IV. You can do better, how about IV badges, IV pins which can be worn on your business attire while attending the rally?
3) No one said rallys are cheap. But rasing money and organizing a failed rally would be the worst outcome.

I think asking account numbers is invasion of privacy. They can ask the amounts and the name of the banks, but not the account numbers !

it looks like what we got off FOIA is just numbers of I-485 applications that are yet to be looked at, in other words - not pre-adjudicated!
The pending inventory report of USCIS look like the real numbers!
I do not want to create any pessimism here but things will be clear(er) in coming months depending on the visa movement.
For any reason if the FOIA numbers are true, from bottom of my heart I HOPE that they are true, we shall all get lucky pretty soon...if not...we need to hold USCIS accountable sue-or-not-sue!

Do we need to fill form I-864 or form I -134 for affidavit of support? A friend of mine who filed with murthy this month is forwarding his set of documents. The documents he filled in includes 134 and not 864. I am looking at uscis website and I am trying to figure out what is the difference between the two. Does any one have more info on the difference between the two documents?

i got the following email from my congressman (i have highlighted the items that i think seemed interesting to me)
You no doubt have heard about the Stimulus Package agreement between Speaker Pelosi, Minority Leader Boehner and Treasury Secretary Paulson that was announced today and is supported by the President. I won't go through all the specifics of it directly because you will hear and see that almost everywhere over the next 24 hours. But I would like to give you what I see as the pros and cons of the thing. First of all, the good stuff:
Raises FHA loan limits to $750,000 and also raises the "conforming" or "jumbo" home limits on loans guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack to the higher of $625,000 or 150% of the median house price in a market. This will help to free up more and cheaper home loan money in high cost areas like Orange County. This should help ease the housing crisis.
Gives some taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes of less than $75,000 (single) or $150,000 (joint) some of their tax money from 2007 back.
As far as I can tell, that's it on the good side.
On the bad side, here goes:
Gives roughly 35 million people who paid NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES AT ALL a check for $300 per person in their family. So, a married couple with 3 kids would get $1500. This is a welfare transfer payment from other taxpayers, pure and simple.
Gives taxpayers with incomes over $75,000 (single) and $150,000 (joint) zero, zippo, nada. These are the people who pay most of the taxes and they will now pay a much greater share of the tax than they already do.
We don't yet know what, if any, mechanisms will be in place to keep illegal aliens from receiving these checks. If you file a tax return with no tax due and you have 4 kids, you will get a non-taxable $1800 check. The incentive for fraud will be huge.
The checks will likely not get to people before July or August, when the economic downturn is projected to be over. So, it will not provide any stimulus right now.
The FHA and Fannie and Freddie loan limit increases are not accompanied by any additional regulation. The reason these loans are cheap is because you (the taxpayers) effectively guarantee them. If taxpayers are going to guarantee them, but someone else (the shareholders of Fannie and Freddie) get the profit, then the taxpayers ought to make sure that those entities are being careful with the money. This has not been the case in the recent past. Although I have supported the higher loan limits, I have only done so on the condition that we would have better oversight of these agency�s actions than we do now.
There is absolutely nothing in this proposal that encourages what we need most, which is to free up investment capital for loans and equities. This economic slowdown was caused by a credit and capital crisis. Not a consumer spending crisis. We should be trying to free up credit and capital. We are treating our arm when it's the leg that hurts. For 3 years our deficit has been declining. With this bill the deficit will balloon again to somewhere over $300 billion. This is approaching what it got to after 9/11. It is not good to increase deficits. But more than that, I fear that this increased deficit will make it politically more difficult to do the tax policy changes we SHOULD do in the near future, like extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, fix or eliminate the AMT and reduce or eliminate the death tax. And you can be sure that the very people who received tax benefit from this package will be asked to "pay for" the cost of this thing next year or the year after.
Neither the Democratic nor Republican leadership in the Senate has signed off on this package yet, so it could still change. But the White House and the House leadership are certainly trying to "grease the wheels" to run this through quickly and with as little change as possible.
I hate to oppose something that does give some taxpayers back some of their money and which contains some elements that will should help the housing crisis. But, I also don't want to support something that has so many negative aspects for the longer term as a trade-off for so little benefit.

I filed for me and my wife in Jan and got them in March. (Paper filing by Lawyer)
One of my cousin filed online and he got Approval AP document in hand in two weeks.
Same with one of my friend who got approved document in hand by 20 days.

I am not disputing the fact the forum is used to post issues. But check who are all asking the accountability...? People who never donated a dime. How can they expect and question accountability for others money. First they will have to give and ask what happened to their money and how it was spend.
I dont want a non-donor come and ask how my donation was spend....
I'll offer 2 other perspectives to look at this
say you did not contribute or did not even vote for the politician who represents your district....do you still demand accountability? why? cause that politician is representing you... whether you like it or not
IV represents a common cause whether the GC seekers like it or not so it should not surprise you when they ask for accountability
As a second perspective
Say you are an investor and a hedge fun manager comes to you with a great investment in a company. Do you blindly trust what the hedge fund manager does with your money or do you want details about the investment and the company?
Nothing wrong with seeking information about the organization you want to invest in
Rather than being mad/frustrated you should be happy about a prospective interested investor!!

How is legally hiring an Indian nanny any different from legally hiring an Indian scientist or an Indian doctor? Surely, those who are arguing for dignity of labor cannot deny the right of the Indian nanny to seek legal employment anywhere in the world.
Let the nanny, the immigration system, and the legal international labor market figure out who should work where. This bill will not affect any of the US High tech companies nor high-skilled immigration (it has nothing to do with EB immigration).
Even big companies like Microsoft and Intel would not be affected by this bill (it is not as restrictive as the previous rule that firms that receive TARP funds could not hire H1Bs).
No need to fear that this would be the start of something bad that we have to fight this to prevent future anti-immigration bills. No such implication.
Although this bill borderlines indirect protectionism and interferes in the free-market principles, it is promoted to prevent fraud and may be to decelerate outsourcing by mostly Indian companies, given the current rate of unemployment at 9.5% and the increasing threat of widespread deflation.
To be clear, I am not in support of this bill, but it would be a sheer waste IV's resources to fight this bill. If some guys can attach these kind of bills to other legislation, may be IV should focus on passing the visa recapture and may be increasing the per-country limit from ~7% to 20% (eliminating per-country limit being the most-desirable).
Instead of fighting this bill, the least that IV could do is to focus its resources to eliminate the freaking diversity lottery program and allocate the 50K green card visa to the EB program. In this 21st century, there is no more need for diversity (which is line with the spirit of the past US Supreme Court rulings), everything is already globalized and flattened. I check my passort and all 4 h1b visas ( i renewed switch employers). There is number in red (which I understand is the A- number) BUT this A number in red is different in all 4 visas. which one to use?
I also check my approved I-140, but did not see andy number in red on top - left (which could be the A number) - is the A number on I-140 too ?

I just called USCIS to check on my case status, the Cust rep over there told me as below.
Details of my case-
My PD - July 2005
EB2
USCIS received my 485 appln on July-2-2007(according to fedex) according to USCIS myaccount portfolio they received it on Aug-10-2007.
She mentioned that my case was 41 days over due (that means my case should have been looked at 41 days prior to today, no clue why and she didnt know either) so she opened up a SR and said that an IO will look into it.
She didnt have info on whether my namecheck/background check was complete etc....

Good to know that NSC is going by RD and not ND. also suggests that they might be looking at the PD as well when determining the order in which applications are picked. I didnt see any 'legislative clauses' to guide the same - So it is more of 'practice' than law - So USCIS can change this (order of adjudication) at their discretion - so I think.

I just called USCIS to check on my case status, the Cust rep over there told me as below.

USCIS received my 485 appln on July-2-2007(according to fedex) according to USCIS myaccount portfolio they received it on Aug-10-2007.
