I have a thought, right now the housing industry is slowing down, The new home sales have dropped signinficantly last month.
We all know that Indians and Chinese are very good savers and have significant amount of their salary saved. Normally Indians and Chinese do not commit to buy a home when their GC is in process. They wait for a GC to be approved and buy a house only after they get their GC.
SO CAN WE TAP INTO THE LOBBYISTS FROM THE HOUSING INDUSTRY??
My thesis is one of the MAIN reasons in the new homes slow down is that people are waiting either at labor stage in BEC or in stage 3 for priority date for GC to be approved to buy houses.
We are talking about well educated well paid immigrants who have a very good discipline of saving and will definitely become home owners if GC is approved faster.
SO CAN WE CONVINCE THE HOUSING INDUSTRY LOBBYISTS TO FUND OUR LOBBYING OR USE THEIR RESOURCES FOR OUR JUST CAUSES??

This happened even in 1998. My colleague at Tata infotech (Bangalore) was sent back immediately because of the unsatisfactory answer to "What is the purpose of your visit?" She was on B1 visa and answered something like programming.
Seems like some of the stories are bit over the top and I truly hope that they are just rumors and not real incidents.
She should have told "Training and Transfer of knowledge". People on B1 cannot use the word "work" nor use any term that correlates to "work".

Yesterday I called up for appointment for my Medical examination at Milwaukee, WI. They told me $160 for medical examination(offcourse they dont accept insurrance) and +30 +60 for Vaccination and if X-ray needed then it will cost more. I have taken an appointment for next week Tuesday.
But question is that is it necessary to go to USCIS listed civil surgeons ?
Oh yeah one more thing. They ask me to carry last I-94 and I-693 form and Photo ID. Looks like these people are well train on what to ask for.

I spoke over the phone with an IO few days back and came to know that my namecheck is pending. He said it can happen tomorrow or months later. PD is Aug.2005. I guess I should not expect to catch the current green bus.
I spoke to rep at NSC today he said my case is clear and just waiting to be adjuducate based on RD..but when i asked him about the name check he said he do not have an access to that however he again said the nothing is holding up my case just a matter of RD...so what can i interpret based on this is my Name check has been cleared or not?:confused:

What happens if your greencard is approved and you leave them after 1 year? Now lets say the employer gets a query from USCIS about the ability to pay and Ur employer decide to leave your name as you are now not working them anymore?

I just called USCIS to check on my case status, the Cust rep over there told me as below.
Details of my case-
My PD - July 2005
EB2
USCIS received my 485 appln on July-2-2007(according to fedex) according to USCIS myaccount portfolio they received it on Aug-10-2007.
She mentioned that my case was 41 days over due (that means my case should have been looked at 41 days prior to today, no clue why and she didnt know either) so she opened up a SR and said that an IO will look into it.
She didnt have info on whether my namecheck/background check was complete etc....
Lets see how things go

First of all I commend your and everyone in putting their effort. I totally agree with you that we need more people and money. I think people are first to come and money will automatically follow.
While word-of-mouth is effective we can augment this to get attention using other means:
1. We can persuade news portals to advertise for our cause in a corner that might help us to get more people. Most Indians I know read Indian news everyday. If we can convince e.g., eenadu.net a telugu newspaper, to run ads we can get attention of lot people.
2. Please start selling the current acheivements that are not confidential. Like you might have been successful in persuading a high profile senator about this problem. Put his quotes on our site and also possible grab attention from bloggers.
3. If we can also tap academia who support skilled immigration that would help us. Let us put there studies in our reference section (I am assuming we didn't do this yet). This
makes senator to reference our site and make their lives easy.
4. Please do not discount freewill members who do not have a GC problem but savor
helping others with immigration problem. It could be Americans or Immigrants we'll get them all in.
I think these actions will help us grow our strength. I know it is easy said than done.

DO you think I can get a waiver for my spouse chest xray (in pregnancy).
She came postive in the skin test. I just want to avoid the xray at this moment.
How does USCIS takes it. Can it be done after the delivery (october 07) ? She is the principle applicant (her PD is better than mine). Do you see any issues with EADs APs.

I have been trying to get by AP expedited which is pending for sometime now (as mentioned in the thread earlier). Got a Infopass last Tuesday and they generated a service request - stating that I needed to go to India at the end of this month. Since than - (Wednesday was closed I guess due to Veteran's day) and on Thursday and today i.e. 11/12 and 11/13 there have been LUDs on my case as seen online. This is my third renewal and I don't need any FP I guess, AP renewal should be simple and ideally should take a few mins or maybe half hour for the guy after he opens my file. I am wondering whats happening - LUDs on consecutive days so far, yet the status of the case remains Initial Review.
I am wondering if some of you have had similar experience\observations since many of you were closely monitoring your case status for AP renewal as well. Please share your comments and insight...

I was really afraid to ask this question as people here don't like different type of question, then also i thought to take a chance.
If you are a working couple with kids, you know the value of having a maid here.
So I am planning to get a maid from india.
Can she apply for b1 visa (with sponsorship letter from me).
Can I specify the actual reason(help with child care) for visa or I just have to mention "visiting purpose"??
I am fine with her traveling to india every 6 months.
I came here on H1 and working on EAD(dependent with 485 pending).
